If I elect to be treated as a full-year US resident for tax purposes in 2023 to file jointly with my US citizen wife and take the standard deduction, can I still be treated as a bona fide resident of the UK for the period prior to moving to the US, and claim the foreign earned income exclusion if I meet the bona fide residency requirements?

My husband and I moved to Mississippi but still work in Tennessee. His employer required him to fill out a W4 for Mississippi tax withholdings, while my employer does not handle Mississippi tax withholdings. Our tax lady said we don't need to pay Mississippi state tax on income made in Tennessee, but his W2 shows $29k of income as Mississippi, even though he works only in Tennessee. Is his employer wrong for showing Mississippi income, or was our tax lady incorrect in saying we don't owe Mississippi state tax on Tennessee income? Should we make a Mississippi tax account and pay tax even though we work in Tennessee?
