If I filled out a W-4 form for an additional $50 per paycheck, can my employer use that amount towards what they already should be paying? For instance, if usually my employer needs to take $100 minimum, does that mean they can choose to only pay $50 so that with my W-4 they complete the $100? I thought it was a way to prevent myself from paying too much when filling taxes, but I find my employer is still paying the minimum even though I filled up the W-4.

I owe approximately $862.00 for my tax obligations and am having difficulty setting up a direct debit payment. I am located in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand, I am 66 years old with no dependents, and my typical filing status is single with an annual income of $75,000 to $80,000. What steps can I take to resolve this payment issue?
