I own land with my father and brother (1/3 each) in VA. My father receives $13,500 from someone using the land. I received a tax bill for $4,500 (1/3 of the money) last year and expect the same this year. Since I receive no money, I plan not to pay the bill. My father has a General Power of Attorney from me that covers until AUG15 which allowed for this to occur. Additionally, I am in the military if that impacts this scenario. What actions can I take to rectify this matter aside from talking with my family?
