My ex-wife and I owed back taxes from 2009. We divorced in December 2010, and she was ordered by the court to pay the back taxes in lieu of paying me equity in the house, which is still under both our names. She has yet to pay a cent to the IRS, and after being threatened by them to have a lien placed on my Social Security, I started making minimum payments. I sent a copy of the divorce decree to the IRS and explained the situation to both them and a Tax advocate, but got nowhere. I do not understand why the IRS has not put a lien on anything she owns, including her business, to recoup the back taxes that she was ordered to pay. If I took her back to court, I would about break even. What else can I do?
