My husband does not have insurance, but the doctor we found accepts sliding scale payments. I support him and I am self-employed, so he does not have proof of income. They told me to bring my taxes if I claimed him. If not, they told me to write a letter of support. I filed married filing jointly because I was told to do that even if one income. What does it mean by if I claimed him? How would that show on my taxes?

My wife and I want to purchase real estate for investment and long-term growth using our LLC, of which we both have a 50% interest. We plan to fund the LLC with personal money, her Self-directed IRA, and my Self-directed IRA. Are we able to do this without breaking the prohibited transaction rules, and how should we set up this transaction correctly?

My husband filed for divorce and is requesting that I date the divorce after Jan. 1st, 2014 so that he can file taxes jointly and benefit from the losses of my business. I made no money this year but have accumulated debt of about $11,000 for business equipment. Should I file jointly with him and use the debt this year, or wait to use the debt on future tax returns when my business makes money? If I file with him to help him avoid owing taxes and he receives a tax refund because of my losses, am I entitled to 100% or only the $11,000 that covers the debt?
