My wife and I own a townhouse that we rent to my in-laws. We are going to create a life estate to give them the right to stay in that home for life. They are going to pay $100,000 for the life estate. Does that constitute income to us? When they die the townhouse reverts back to us. If we sell it then do we have to add the $100,000 as capital gains?

We didn't claim our daughter on our taxes for 2014 or 2015 and want to amend our return for those years. We never had a Social security number for her, but are finally getting one now. Are we still allowed to file and claim her for the tax break? We are in WA and she was born in Oct of 2014.

My husband and I are the only members of an LLC with zero income, and we file joint personal returns. The LLC was filed under Schedule C on our personal returns. However, the IRS penalized the LLC for not filing a 1065 despite no income. Does the LLC fall under the 'disregarded entity' tax rules?
