Need help getting the IRS to issue my deceased father's 2019 tax refund so we can close his estate. They have all the correct forms, but the refund hasn't been issued. Will we lose the refund if it goes past 3 years? The IRS informed me they couldn't speak to me because the form 56 was filled out incorrectly by the estate attorney and the form 1310 was sent incorrectly by our tax guy. All this has been corrected now, but they told me it might take up to a year before they issue the refund because they process refunds for deceased individuals after they process the ones that owe to the IRS. Any suggestions on how I can get this issue resolved?
