My husband died on March 17, 2018. He died while on SS Disability with no life insurance or assets. Do I need to file his taxes for 2017? I don’t know what would be important. He was hospitalized for four months before passing. My SSDI 1099 said I do not need to file taxes for myself, but we usually filed jointly.

I have a second home in SC that I extensively renovated in 2016 to prepare it for rental. I rolled over a credit of $10,000+ to my 2017 taxes, but only rented it a couple of times in 2017 to family. Now, I am planning to sell it for a profit.
