Someone drew unemployment under my social security number for my 2021 taxes, resulting in a $700 reduction on my tax return. I have been retired since 2005 and did not draw unemployment. I contacted the U.S. Department of Labor, who advised me to call unemployment, but I cannot get through. I am located in Grand Blanc, Michigan. I have been diagnosed with Bell's palsy and have not seen improvement after 5 days of treatment. My left eye cannot wink or close, and the left half of my face is numb. I am having difficulty talking and working on the computer, which is my primary job. I would like to know if my condition qualifies me for short-term social security benefits or any other benefits, as I am a freelance, self-employed worker and the sole breadwinner in my family.
