There was a lien put against my ex-husband and me for some back taxes. We paid this amount and the lien was removed from his social security number, but it still shows on mine, affecting my credit. What can be done to remove these liens from my credit report?

My stepdaughter turned 18 last July 2, 2005. My husband should still be able to claim her for that tax year, even though she is in the physical custody of my ex-wife and I have paid child support up to her birthday? The court has given me the right to claim her as a dependent as part of the divorce decree. Is this common practice, and does the precedent of my ex-wife providing form 8332 each year for the last eight years hold any value?

Can I use money from a past Simple IRA to reimburse them or myself for out-of-pocket medical expenses without the usual 10% penalty, given that my regular tax should be low due to making very little this year?

My coworker paid $15,000 in interest on her $300,000 acquisition debt for her house, which has a fair market value of $500,000. She also paid $4,000 interest on her $30,000 home equity loan, $1,000 of credit card interest, and $3,000 of margin interest for stock purchase. She had $10,000 in interest income and no investment expenses. We were talking and I think she could deduct $23,000 in interest expenses. She is thinking a $19,000 deduction. Help.
