We are selling our primary residence for $900,000 and purchasing another for $750,000. Does this mean we would have to pay capital gains on $150,000 because our new home won't be of the same or greater value? (We have lived in this home for 7 years.)

A friend of mine worked a little bit in a job and made around $1800, with $185 in Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) taxes. Are they required to file a tax return with that amount of money made?

I have always worked an office job and being a single parent, entitled to the earned income credit, have always gotten back around $4,000 - $5,000 back during income season time. As of Jan 2019 I solely started driving for Uber, Lyft and Instacart and make between $1,700 & $1,800 a month doing that and I'm trying to determine how much I'll owe the IRS for this coming tax season in 2020. I'm a little worried.

My husband, born in 1924, and I, born in 1940, both started collecting Social Security at age 65. He paid the maximum in taxes throughout his life, but he receives $200 less per month than I do. We are trying to understand why and what steps we can take to address this discrepancy.

If a C-Corporation's only income and expenses are from 1099-Div, 1099-Int, and 1099-Bs, and it is owned by a single shareholder, would this corporation be taxed as a Personal Holding Company?

I need to transfer some amount from abroad and need to know the tax consequences. Have you talked to a tax professional about this?
