I was laid off from December 2007 through March 2008, got hurt in May 2008, and have been off work until next week. I received 3 months of disability through my own Aflac policy. My husband and I separated in April 2008 but are not divorced yet due to financial constraints. I am confused about taxes. Do I have to pay taxes on my disability? Can I file separately? I am confused.

My father recently passed away and listed me as a beneficiary to his Thrift Savings Plan as a civilian employee. They paid out the money minus 20% standard Federal withholding. Will the payment to me be subject to additional tax (state, income) or be treated as ordinary income on my 2014 income tax return?

My husband and I started a new 'house flipping' business. He continues to take ATM withdrawals out of our business bank account, sometimes to pay employees under the table and other times to reimburse personal expenses. I've asked him to stop using the business card as an ATM for any reason. Am I being too strict on this issue?
