I’m looking to buy a property as part of a relationship settlement agreement which was purchased 4 years ago. Do I need to pay tax on this? If I sell it two years later, does it hit the bright line test? The property is in a trust and will remain in that trust with my ex-partner resigning as trustee. Depending on which date applies, how long would I need to hold onto the property until the bright line test no longer applies?
