I am interested in buying a 7-foot tall grandfather clock from a friend. The clock is very plain and mundane looking, and I am unsure of its value. The clock does not work, and I suspect it needs cleaning. What should I pay for it?

I am trying to sell a set of African thorn carvings from Nigeria, circa 1965. There are 16 pieces, most in very good condition, with one missing hands. The carvings depict scenes of village life and were purchased by my grandparents between 1960 and 1965 when they were working in Nigeria. What is the market value of these carvings, and where can I sell them effectively?
