I have a complete set of Haviland France decorated by Haviland & Co Limoges China, circa 1883-1887. There are 12 place settings of 12 pieces plus serving pieces. There is only one small chip on one saucer. They are round, with gilt edges, with 2 blue stripes with rose garland, on vanilla, one more stripe then white. Can you give me any information?

I have an item, but I don’t know what it is. It is a copper container with a lid, dimensions 3 1/3 inches in diameter and 3 ½ inches in height (with lid and knob). The container has a 'leg' and a flexible wood part. The container sits on a metal post that goes through the wood part in the 'leg,' through the container, and into the inside of the lid. The post is attached to an 8-inch long wooden stick. There is also a metal chain with a solid brass heavy ball attached, which rotates the container in a circle during shaking. A bone disc is attached to the top of the wooden stick, protecting it from the rotating container. What is this item?
