I have a lamp with an ivory elephant base about 10" across. I bought it about 40 years ago in an antique shop from a reputable dealer. How can I tell if it really is ivory? And is antique ivory allowed to be sold in this country? The lamp has a silk shade, a wooden base, and is in very good condition with no visible cracks.
