I have a painting that appears to be a period piece, quite old, and smaller in size with a great gilded ornate frame. The painting depicts a child in a dress holding a golf club with a ball in front of her. It has a signature of 'Lester' but I can't find any information on the full artist name or exact period. I want to know more about this painting, specifically the artist's identity and the period it was painted, but I want to pay $5 instead of the full $70 up front. Is that possible?

I just acquired a vintage item in Miami, FL and would like to know more about it. I can't find it with Google Lens. Would this be one-of-a-kind, or was it produced in large quantity? There seem to be similar ones out there, but not this exact one. It is in need of professional repair as the handle broke in transit. I understand this will reduce the value of the piece, but here goes!

How can I determine the value of a piece of art that is 68 years old, in fair condition, and has only the artist's signature? The piece was given to my father by a general in the Mexican army, who claimed it was given to him by the famous artist Diego Rivera, and it is supposedly a Russian child.
