Is this a Japanese pickle pot? It measures approximately 12 1/2 inches tall and at the widest point about 8 inches. It is partially glazed in brown and has a symbol on it, which I think is a signature. I will send pictures of all. Thank you for your help.

I bought a box last week that looks like sterling silver. It has a small 925 mark and is about 5x3.5 inches. I think it might be a tea box, possibly Japanese. Can you help identify it and provide a value estimate?
