I have a very old ink holder that is marked 'Made in England' and 'Genuine Dayon? Potters' on the bottom. It is painted with violets and has the words 'Hills Devon Violets' on it. The item belonged to my great grandmother and is believed to be over 100 years old. There is only one very tiny chip, and the ink well is otherwise in great shape. What is the item's condition, and is it worth anything?

During the Civil War, after the battle of Falls Bluff and Leesburg Virginia, a Yankee soldier came to loot my great great great grandmother’s house. She shot him, and he’s buried in the front yard. They took his sword up to the attic, where it’s been ever since. The handle has an eagle with wings spread above the letters US, and the blade is decorative but I can’t read what it says. Can you help identify the sword and its value?
