I have an old pocket watch that was given to me by my father. It was his father's pocket watch. The only identifying marks on the watch are the name GRANBY on the watch face and Swiss at the bottom of the dial. I took it to a watch repair person here in my town, but he was unable to open it. Can you offer some guidance on where to locate information about this watch and how to open it? It still keeps good time, and we are not sure if the back unscrews or if we are supposed to pry it open. I believe it was probably built before 1930.

I have two books and would like to know their value. The first is 'The Woman Who Was Pope: A Biography of Pope Joan, 853-855 A.D.' by Clement Wood, published in 1931. The second is 'The Wandering Jew' by Eugene Sue, published by A. L. Burt Company. I cannot read the publishing date for 'The Wandering Jew' but I know it is by the same author who wrote 'The Mysteries of Paris'.

I have an odd-shaped porcelain bowl, approximately 12 inches at its widest point, resembling a duck or bird. It has a stamp on the bottom featuring a bird (possibly an eagle), 'C.T.', 'Germany', and numbers 9889 and 61 in gold ink. The bowl has a handle representing tail feathers, no chips or cracks, and features small pink and blue flowers with gold design around the edge. What is the origin and value of this bowl?

I have several antique items that I am curious about, including a mahogany secretary desk from the early 1930s, a twin bed from the early 1900s with a pineapple pattern, a Spode covered butter dish, a pitcher that might be Wedgewood, and an Ansonia clock/statue. What are the potential values and how should I proceed with getting them appraised?
