The table I inherited has a tag under the top that reads "Made in China" "No. 87". I know it is old. The owner passed away over 20 years ago at the age of 89. He grew up in China. Does this tag identify the table in some way?

I have a painting that appears to be from Poland or thereabouts (by signature). It is a framed oil painting on a dark canvas with no apparent dates. Can you make a quick determination from a photo if the painting is worthy of research? The painting is in good condition, with no scrapes or tears, but could use re-stretching.
