I bought what was described as a 19th century gilt bronze blackamoor, about 9 inches, but I believe it's not gilt bronze or a blackamoor. It has fine detail and I'm curious about what it is. What tests can I perform to identify it, and what is its potential value?

I have a bisque head doll, circa 1900, that was my grandmother's. It is 31" tall with eyes that close when laid down, and the back of the head is marked '42L, 16, Germany, Handwerck, 6 1/2'.
