I have two vases over 100 years old. Should I send photos to get an assessment and advice on where to sell them?

I have a brass cloisonné vase, possibly of Chinese or Japanese origin, in excellent condition with assorted flowers on an intricate brass scroll/black enamelled background. There are no marks indicating origin or manufacture. The vase has a loose 'plug' of clay inside, too large to come out the top but sitting neatly at the bottom. What is the origin and significance of this vase, and what is the purpose of the clay plug inside?
