I am building a house and want to install a 48” gas range. I know that a range hood fan should have at least the width of the range, typically 1000+ CFM. However, my builder advised against a fan greater than 300 CFM to avoid creating a negative pressure environment, which could affect the furnace and stove. We don’t cook often, maybe 30 minutes a day. Could I install a 1200 CFM hood fan based on our low frequency of use, and would it pose a problem?
