I am installing a cooktop over an existing range. The service input is three wire (red/white/black), the existing range is four wire (red/white/black/ground bare), and the cooktop is three wire (red/black/ground bare). I connected all white to white, all black to black, all red to red, and the two ground bare wires to white. After powering up, the clock, temperature indicator, and timer malfunctioned.
