I have a 10-year-old Maytag Neptune (MLE2000AYW) that wasn't draining properly. I ordered a replacement pump (FM PS2020805) but it was missing a third hole where the original had a rubber stopper attached to a large orange piece connected to wires. After connecting the inlet and outlet, the washer would not fill. When I attached the original orange piece to its plug (not to the pump), it filled with water and drained properly, but it shuts off in the middle of a wash cycle after the first drain. How do I fix this, and do I need the orange piece for something? If not, what do I connect to the plug that connects to the orange piece?
