🔌  Appliance

I have a 15-month-old Whirlpool refrigerator with no more limited warranty. Today, the freezer door was open a couple of inches, and the top part of the appliance was making a very loud humming roar. My son-in-law, a maintenance tech, improved its performance by defrosting it and advising on capacity and airflow. I've tried changing the temperature, unplugging and plugging it back in, and partially emptying the freezer to check if it was freezing, but no luck. What could be causing the noise, and what should I do to fix it?
