I have a Whirlpool refrigerator that stopped cooling. I replaced the condenser fan, but it still doesn't cool. The evaporator fan works, the compressor feels like it's working, the lights are on, and the controls are functioning, but the fridge and freezer are not cooling. The original condenser motor was zapped, and there is no visual damage to the main board. What could be the issue, and is it something I can fix myself?

Hello, I've thawed out my iced upright freezer and it started and cooled down overnight with the fan running. This morning, it was cold and the fan was still running, but the outside surface of the freezer was warm. Then it stopped, and I heard some intermittent crackling and hissing sounds coming from the evaporator coil area behind the cover plate inside. Does opening the door frequently like I did to check cause the freezer to shut itself down for a time? My freezer is a Frigidaire upright model FFU12F2HW (or FFU12F3HW).
