I have a Frigidaire FRSS2623 refrigerator. I am a Sabbath observer and need to prevent the lights from turning on when the door is opened. I tried using a magnet on the reed switch, but the lights still go on briefly when the door is closed. Where should I place the magnet to effectively disable the lights for the Sabbath?

My apartment manager says my stove hood doesn't need to be connected to the outside. When I open the cupboard above the hood, it looks like a part was removed. The fan works but just recycles hot air and steam back into my apartment. Is this true or not?
