I have a Kenmore Elite front loader (model 796) from 2010. All of a sudden, it started making a grinding noise during the spin cycle, sounding like gears stripping. I've already torn it apart, replaced the bearings and shocks, and checked the rotor with an ohm meter, but the noise persists. The noise only occurs when electricity is applied, and it sounds like magnets are hitting something. What could be causing this noise, and what should I check next?

Replaced the lid lock switch on a Maytag MVWC555DW washer (coil was open). Now the lid will not lock. Checked coil resistance and it's OK. The washer won't run auto diagnostics and must be stepped through manually. The lid lock light won't come on and the lid won't lock during the test. The lid lock light flashed before replacing the burned-out switch. Diagnostic codes say the lid won't lock and won't unlock. What could be the issue?
