I have a Maytag washer MHWE55OWW01 that is giving me an F41 error code and stops mid-cycle. If you turn it off and on quickly, it sometimes completes the cycle. I have unplugged it for 5 minutes and then replugged it in, but there's no difference. What could be causing this issue and how can I fix it?

My top-load washing machine won't start, has power, lights come on, lid is locked but won't bring the sensor light on. The red light is on and flashing, but the lid won't lock solid. I have a GE washer model # GTW460ASJ2WW. The agitator is more loose than normal, and I want to tighten the bolt in the center of the agitator. However, there is a plastic cap that seems to be glued in place, preventing me from accessing the bolt. How can I remove this agitator or access the bolt?
