I have a noisy LG refrigerator (8 years old, model LFX31925ST with a linear compressor). The noise stops when the refrigerator door is opened and resumes when it's closed. The noise remains when the freezer bottom drawer is opened. What stops running when the refrigerator doors are opened?

The door of my Panasonic Genius Prestige microwave won't open, it's still in on mode, and I can see the light. I think it's stuck in some way, but I can't open the door. I had to unplug it to stop it from running. I don't have the manual and am unsure how to open the door. The door is slightly ajar and can be lifted upwards, and the light remains on inside. What should I do?
