I have a Whirlpool refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom. The freezer is holding its temperature, but the refrigerator is not cold at all. The problem started about 15 hours ago after two years of no issues. The light comes on in the refrigerator, so power does not seem to be the issue. The freezer has been forming a layer of ice in the bottom that takes about 2 to 3 weeks to grow about three-fourths of an inch thick, but the freezer temperature is fine. This has been going on for some months, but removing the ice layer seems all that is required. The ice maker has never been connected and the handle is in the off position. Are the two problems related? How can I get the refrigerator to cool again?
