My Maytag MED9600SQ0 dryer, which is 11 years old, has a heating element that runs continuously and visibly glows, generating heat at all settings. The heating element has a visible dead spot where it drops to the lower half, but there are no breaks, and both the lower and upper halves heat fine. The heating element was replaced last year, and the thermistor and fuse are okay. The exhaust is unimpeded and exhausting hot air. What could be causing this issue, and what should be the next step in diagnosing and fixing it?
