My Model RF4267HARS ice maker is not making ice. The water line is hooked up and the cold water dispenser works. The ice button is on. What could be the issue and what steps should I take to troubleshoot it?

My KitchenAid KSRS25F ice maker is not working and just makes a clicking sound. The underside of the ice maker is very hot, and the fridge is over 10 years old with a water filter that hasn't been changed in over a year. The issue has been occurring periodically, and this time, cleaning the ice bin didn't help. Is it safe to remove the ice maker, and where can I order a replacement part?
