My top-loading washer, which is two years old, occasionally stops the washing cycle on spin and drain and allows the lid to open no matter what. I have tried resetting it, starting a new washing cycle, unplugging and plugging it back in, and holding the start button for two minutes, but the top remains locked and I get code numbers. The washer does not agitate. What is causing this issue and how can it be resolved?

My Kenmore gas dryer doesn't spin when I hit start. It lights up and buzzes as if it starts, but nothing happens. I've checked the door switch, motor circuits, main and start windings, belt switch, main control pins, and the board, and everything checks out. When I hit start, the board clicks a lot but nothing happens. What could be the issue?
