The indicator light on my electric downdraft radiant cooktop (Model JED8430, about 17 years old) came on spontaneously and won't go out, even though the burner is off and cool to the touch. I've tried turning the knob to the 'off' position, removing the knob to ensure the control popped up into the off-position, and the indicator light is now flickering and slowly dimming.
