We have an old Carrier 58SS furnace from 1988 that cooked its control board and wiring harness. We've replaced both, but now the main burners don't come on, although the pilot light holds. The 3-wire pilot seems to be working, providing 24V to terminal 1 of the 646 style 5-terminal gas control valve. What could be the issue, and is replacing the gas valve worth the cost considering the furnace's age?
