I have a Kenmore Elite model 596.73502200 25' bottom mount refrigerator that has stopped cooling. The fan inside and outside is running, and the compressor comes on for a few seconds, then shuts off for a minute or two, and then repeats this cycle. The compressor is very warm. I tested the compressor relay and got 0 ohms. I unplugged the unit, pulled the relay off the compressor, and got 125V with no shutoff. The coils are clean. I then located and disconnected the control panel in the top of the fridge, reconnected it, set the fridge on the coldest settings, and turned it on. It ran for 6 hours and got cold. When I set the temp to normal to cycle, the compressor started the short cycle again. I unplugged and let it cool down. I have an extra small fan on the compressor. I set the controls to medium settings and it has been fine for an hour now. Do I have a bad compressor or board or something else? The board was replaced 4 years ago. Is there only one board?
