I have a Gmail account used for work on my Verizon G6 phone. After resetting the phone to factory settings, adding the work email account now requires two security types to access the phone. I've turned off two-step verification and checked the 'less secure apps' setting, but the issue persists. How do I resolve this without needing to pay for remote assistance?

My wife and I have an iPad, Motorola smartphone, HP laptop, and ASUS smartphone. We use the same Gmail email address. Occasionally, all of our emails, including ones we have saved in folders, will disappear on all four devices. We do not use the cloud or have any notifications set up to cause this.
