I'm trying to set up a new magicJack device and having problems. The phone won't activate, and I'm not very good with computers. My computer is a Dell, and I think I installed updates recently. The magicJack is connected to the modem after going through the setup steps, but I can't make or receive calls.

I got hacked by someone who convinced me that my computer was being hacked by someone from Russia. I let him access some things I shouldn't have, and he almost scammed me. A month later, I received a voicemail from someone claiming to be from Microsoft, saying that my computer was being hacked from another country and to call them. Does Microsoft monitor computer activity and make calls to users?

I need help with a possible scam. A few weeks ago, my computer locked up with a red screen and a message to call a number to fix the problem. I followed the prompts and ended up paying around $1500 for supposed virus cleanup and 3 years of coverage for 5 computers. The process escalated, and I stopped payment for about $500. Today, I received a call from the same group claiming they owed me $1,000 and asked for complete access to my computer. They made a mistake and placed $3,000 instead of $1,000, asking me to go to Walmart or Best Buy to assist in correcting the error. I refused, and they still have control of my computer, asking me not to use it overnight. They threatened to wipe my computer clean if I don't cooperate. I desperately need help. My computer is a Dell 8500 with Windows 10, and I have only installed updates recommended by Microsoft.
