My Dell Dimension 3000 came equipped with Windows XP Service Pack 2, which was updated to SP3 at a later date. Now, my computer says it is no longer XP when I try to download a program that requires XP. Why is this happening and what can I do about it?

I have just upgraded my VAIO laptop from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium (Family 3 Pack). Despite checking and re-entering the product code three times, it still says the code is invalid. Where do I go now? Will I have the same problem with the other two computers?

My Vista OS crashed due to a bootpath problem and I seem to have deleted the entire OS. I am unable to reinstall due to the fact I just have the restore disk so can not rebuild Vista. The HD is fine but will not let me install any other OS like XP or Linux. I have used a memory wipe it has some errors like dev/sbd and dev/sdc and dev/sda. What this means they tell me something wrong with my disk that I made for Linux...brand new disk and can run the OS from the disk. 2 they say my DVD drive not reading, once again I am using the OS from the disk. SO now what is wrong with the HD cuz it is happening with 2 drives I have one from an lennovo that was also vista, the motherboard went bad on that one. What am I doing wrong?
