The volume is set at 100, but I can barely hear the voices or music on my Toshiba laptop computer using the Toshiba-DVD player. The application has a slider control set at 100 and a turning volume control that doesn't increase the volume when turned. I have also tried adjusting the volume in the system tray, but it still doesn't work. What could be the issue?

I own a Toshiba Satellite A135-S2276. My CD/DVD drive (Matsushita DVD-RAM UJ-850S ATA) is no longer recognized by my computer, showing a yellow question mark in Device Manager.
