A 10-year-old previously healthy and active male Yorkie has experienced rapid onset of bloody diarrhea, leading to a diagnosis of pancreatitis in the ER. Initial treatment included a Proviable Kit, Metronidazole, and Cerenia, with a recommendation for a boiled chicken and rice diet followed by a low-fat prescription diet. The dog had been on a mix of Farmers Dog fresh food and Natural Balance kibble. Recent tests showed a positive result for perfringens, and previous labs indicated slightly elevated lipase levels. The vet suggested follow-up tests for lipase and fecal in a couple of weeks. How can pancreatitis be ruled out to avoid lifelong use of expensive prescription food? Will insurance cover the ultrasound if pancreatitis is suspected but perfringens might be the cause? Are there any recommendations for treats going forward?

My American Shepherd dog, Kheaven, chewed on a small, old reusable ice pack and has been coughing since. She is about 60-70 lbs, and the ice pack was mostly intact with just a small amount of the blue substance exposed. She threw up mucus this evening and has been drinking and snacking as usual. Will charcoal pills help, and is there anything else I can do to soothe her throat?

Hi there, our litter of 8-week-old golden retriever puppies have been doing incredibly well. A couple of the puppies have had super runny poop since being wormed yesterday at the vet (4th time) but they had their first flea treatment too yesterday. A few of them have had a couple of vomits also since then. Is that normal?
