I accidentally nicked my dog's anus while grooming her. She is bothered by it, scooting and licking the area. I have cleaned it and applied antibiotic ointment. I tried putting on a pair of underwear to cover the wound but she wouldn't walk. What else should I do to help her heal and be more comfortable?

My dog, Xena, has an open laceration on her back that is about 1/2 inch long. I've cleaned it and dressed it, but I'm unsure whether to make a normal vet appointment or take her to the emergency vet. The wound doesn't bleed badly, and it happened about two hours ago. Xena is 2 years old, fixed, and up to date on her shots. Should I wait until Monday for a regular appointment, or should I take her to the emergency vet?

I am worried about my Teacup Maltese, Bean, who had surgery on Monday. Last night, we noticed his post-neutering incision looked slightly open. He had pain medication for the first three days and is 6 months old. Is there anything we should be concerned about, and do we still need to keep the cone on?
