I am retired and on a limited income with two dachshunds, one 7 years old and one 11 weeks old. I want to ensure they receive necessary vaccines and heartworm treatment, but vet visits are too expensive. Last year, it cost over $500 for two adults, which I can't afford now. I can purchase vaccines locally and administer them myself, but I don't know how to get heartworm treatment without a prescription. When should the puppy start heartworm treatment? Additionally, my older dachshund has itchy skin with thin hair, and the puppy occasionally scratches. Neither has fleas. Is there something I can give them for this?

My dog, Frankie, a Boston Terrier mix, choked on a piece of a very hard bone and was later observed to be vomiting white foam, eating grass excessively, and licking his lips a lot. He is now acting normal but I'm concerned about potential internal damage or if the swallowed bone piece could cause issues. What should I watch for and when should I consider getting an X-ray?

My dog, Yuki, a 10-pound, 7.5-year-old dog, ate about 3 tablespoons of chopped red onions, possibly 12 hours ago or less. I couldn't get hydrogen peroxide down him to induce vomiting. He didn't throw up since, and he ate a little cooked liver after the incident. Should I be concerned about onion toxicity, and how soon should he get blood work done?

My dog is on phenobarbital for a seizure disorder. The vet is unavailable, and I can't get an appointment anywhere to get the meds refilled. He took his last dose today, and I don't know what to do.
