I have a 2 1/2 year old black lab who started itching a lot in late summer/fall. The vet diagnosed allergies and prescribed prednisone, but the itching persists despite the treatment. My dog is also biting his legs and not eating well. What can be done to alleviate his symptoms?

My dog, a Jack Russell mix, has been lethargic and sleeping all day long. He acts like he is too tired and weak to even get up.
