I have a 7-year-old female cocker spaniel. Her nose is black, but now it looks scaly, like it has dirt embedded in it. When it's dry, it looks like scabs on it, and it's just on the top of her nose. Is this from her digging in the dirt, or should I be more concerned?

Your dog may have a condition called hyperkeratosis of the nose, which is common in cocker spaniels....

My 11-year-old Labrador retriever passed away suddenly. He was lethargic, had blood in his stomach, and was found to have growths around his heart and kidneys after an x-ray and ultrasound. Two weeks prior, he had a normal physical. Is there no screening for cancer in dogs?

My 6-year-old pug has started peeing more frequently and having accidents in the house, regardless of how many times we take her out. She is also pooping in the house more often. She seems happy and healthy, loves to play, and doesn't seem to be in any pain. She is drinking more water recently and pees twice before coming inside. What could be causing this and what should I do?

My German Shepherd is ripping and chewing the fur off his back towards his tail area. I gave him prednisone and an antibiotic, but nothing is working. Today, as a last resort, I gave him Benadryl to help him. Did I do the right thing? Can I put Neosporin on his back to help him too? If not, what should I do? I pity him.
