I have a 9-year-old Pomeranian/Miniature Pinscher mix named Zaydee. She started having trouble getting around two days ago, limping and walking slowly. She has her tail up and runs to the front door to bark only once or twice, but mostly has her tail tucked down, walks with her head low, and stays in bed. If I try to pick her up, she cries and screams as if in pain. She's still drinking water and eating canned food mixed with rice once a day, but hasn't eaten dry food since then. Could it be arthritis or is she in terrible pain?

My 10-year-old male greyhound, who weighs 95 pounds, stepped on glass a week ago, cutting his left front outer paw pad. The cut is about 1 centimeter across. He was limping badly but has started putting mild to moderate pressure on the paw. However, his paw has now swollen significantly, and he is not using that leg at all. The vet did X-rays and blood work, which showed no bone damage but possibly a tiny piece of glass in his paw. The blood work was normal, but the vet suspected an infection. He received a penicillin shot, antibiotics, and an anti-inflammatory. The paw is still swollen, and he is in noticeable pain. Should I ask the vet for pain medication? What can be done about the possible piece of glass in his paw? He also started coughing occasionally. Is there anything else I can do to reduce the swelling and better care for him?
