I have a rescue dog named Sky who tested positive for heartworm, but the larvae were not found in his blood and he doesn't exhibit any symptoms. He is about 2 years old and is on Doxycycline and Heartgard Plus for preventive heartworm larvae. Could we let the mature worms die on their own, or is it necessary to take the aggressive route my vet is suggesting?
